Three Inspirations to Create a Celebrity Style Home

celebrity style home ideasIt’s no secret that many people love looking at celebrities’ homes and wish to live in similar style. Whether those celebs have simple looking homes or flashy, ostentatious monuments to the wealth they’ve amassed, there are often some design ideas  that inspire the imagination is us all.

One thing famous people are good at is having homes that combine comfort and space with privacy from prying eyes. So, if you’re ready to build a gorgeous and comfortable new home in or around Vancouver, or plan to remodel your existing home, here are some celebrity style home ideas to inspire you and your design builder here in Hollywood North.

Celine Dion – Classic Mansion Style

celebrity style home ideasIf the classic mansion style is your thing, look to Celine Dion. OK, it’s not likely that many people can live exactly like one of Canada’s biggest exports with her 24,000 sq. ft. house on a private island in Quebec. But take some ideas from the renowned songstress’s French Normand Chateau mansion. Think about 14-foot ceilings and double oak doors into each room. How about stunning wood parquet flooring and matching wood paneled walls? Add some intricate wainscoting throughout the entire house with a chandelier or two and a sweeping staircase for a true mansion feel. A wine and tasting room in a place like this is a must.

Of course, modern amenities are abundant, from a state-of-the-art gym to an entertainment room. It’s a great starting idea for a celebrity style home because of its old world grandeur combined with modern techniques.

Bryan Cranston – a Green Home That is LEED Platinum Certified

celebrity style home ideasCranston is famous for his roles in the TV shows Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle. While both characters certainly indulged in more than their fair share of questionable practices, in real life his home does positive things for the environment. Cranston’s beach house features comforting and flowing contemporary design without ever being ostentatious, while enjoying the outside views with large windows and outdoor spaces. Much of the construction was done with recycled materials and includes photovoltaic and water heating solar panels, rain water collectors, radiant heated floors, and no VOC paint or stains. The colour scheme is relaxingly simple, almost monochrome but with bright accents. This modern style home is also ‘functionally green’. It is a shining example of how luxury living doesn’t have to come with a cost to the environment and that’s something very appealing here in the Lower Mainland.

Matthew Perry – It’s Easy to Have Friends With a House Like This

If your style for a new home is to create open spaces and merge them with the landscape, Friends star Matthew Perry’s ocean-side home is worth looking at. Walls and partitions are used as sparsely as possible, with high ceilings and reclaimed exposed wood beams making the interior seem even larger and more fluid between rooms. Like many homes, the kitchen is the centre, with an oversized island that ties in the living and dining areas into one great space. Sometimes, celebrity homes are all about creating as much “normality” as possible, just with plenty of comfort.

These are just a few celebrity style home ideas to inspire you in your quest to build your unique nest here in Vancouver. All of them will work beautifully amid the beautiful landscapes of this area. Talk to your friendly home designers and builders to turn these ideas – and more – into practical reality.
