Doug Kerr & Elton Donald Highlighted as “Influencers” in Vancouver Boulevard Magazine

An “influencer” is someone who because of their experience and knowledge becomes recognized as setting the modern trend in an industry or profession. Because of this, their words and advice are broadly sought and create an almost magnetic effect on the views of others to uplift them to think along similar creative lines.

Doug Kerr, founder of Kerr Construction & Design, and his partner Elton Donald have been profiled in the June/July 2020 edition of Vancouver Boulevard Magazine as two of “The Influencers” among Vancouver’s top entrepreneurs. Doug and Elton were interviewed about their successes, visions and, yes, superpowers!

Loving what you do is the key

Elton told the magazine “The question, ‘What is your superpower?’ got me thinking because I wasn’t sure how I would answer.  Say something funny? Say something confident?  As I thought about my own progression in the business, and about what others have said to me, I guess there is a ‘superpower’ and this is: love.  I LOVE what I do every day; I love my craft and take pride in things I have done with my hands; I love being creative,s sharing cool ideas about designs, meeting new people, making new relationships and brainstorming with my talented team and clients.  And I love the joy and satisfaction I feel when I see how happy my clients are in their new space!”

Doug told them something similar: “What gives me the juice to stay out in front of the pack ina comp[etitive business has been finding a way to LOVE my job.  Turns out it was actually quite simple.  I get fully charged when my clients are happy, and my clients get happy when we do something to their home that improves their lives.  With that being achieved, I never run out of energy.”
