Have you longed to remodel your master bedroom?
Then do it right and transform it into a haven of luxury, seclusion and practicality.
Here are a few ideas that could make your master bedroom perfect for you and the envy of others.
The walk-in closet
In this day and age, old built-in closets with folding doors are just, well, old.
A walk-in closet is a must have. It’s more than a closet, it’s a dressing room and also a huge space saver.
What’s that? How can creating a spacious walk-in actually SAVE space? Simple.
- Take all your clothes, jewelry and ornaments from the dressers and shelves and put them in the walk-in. Then remove the dressers, shelves, cabinets and chairs. Suddenly you have a ton of space in your master bedroom.
- If the new walk-in cuts into another room, consider making it a two-way closet with doors on both sides.
- A walk-in can be designed with all kinds of shelves, cabinets, mirrors, storage places, nooks and crannies built in. It’s amazing how much can be stored in one.
- No more draping clothes on the bed or chair as you try things on and get ready to go out. Stand in front of the full-length mirror in your walk-in and select items from arm’s length.
Besides, a walk-in closet in the master bedroom is a major value adder and selling point for a house.
Your own private reading room
Now that the master bedroom has been opened up, there’s no need to keep your reading collection in a separate room. Have stylish shelves built in, maybe add a little archway and new paint, then some chairs or a chaise, and you have a private reading room. A perfect haven inside your own bedroom. Enjoy your morning coffee in the luxurious quiet over your favourite reading.
Beyond Just a Master Ensuite…
… a tub on a pedestal surrounded by windows.
Pure, private luxury. Instead of your ensuite tucked away out of view, renovate to shift it.
Take the old ensuite space for your master bedroom and partition off an area by the windows for the new feature bathroom.
Soak in the tub or indulge in a multi-sprayer full-body shower while enjoying the view.
Mount your custom-designed tub on a platform of hardwood or surround it with a garden of smooth rocks and lush greenery. Either way will create the feel of a luxury spa.
Master Bedroom Balcony
Regular windows that show off the Lower Mainland’s glorious scenery are great. Greater still would be to step out through double doors onto your own private balcony. If you have the space, and the contractor designs it right, it could even be a full deck. Do your morning yoga in the fresh air and later relax with a Caesar at the end of the day. During summer, soak in the sunset with a crisp Okanagan wine or a sparkling cold Granville Island beer.
With a little designing and remodeling, your master bedroom can be so much more. It can be the key to the lifestyle you have always wanted.
